Our Side Event at COP28

The objective of the discussion session is to strengthen the Cooling Action Plan in India and other Global South countries by sharing insights from India’s initiative, pinpointing practical strategies to overcome barriers in implementation, and defining the degree and nature of global support needed.

Specific topics to be addressed during the side event are as follows:

  • Lessons from India to champion green cooling in Global South nations.
  • Strategies to tackle continued implementation hurdles of policy, finance, awareness and capacity.
  • Scale of international financial and technical aid necessary for green cooling and the mechanisms to mobilize such support.

This event brings together governments, think tanks, and the climate finance community across the Global South countries to discuss their experience of waste management and the opportunities to create a South-South knowledge exchange platform for capacity development and financial mobilisation
