Senior Programme Associate, International Climate Policy & Engagement

iFOREST is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Programme Associate to join our team focusing on international climate policy and engagement. As a Senior Programme Associate you will have a crucial role in supporting our global engagement on climate change, including on just transition, through policy engagement and stakeholder coordination.

The position is based in Noida/ Delhi NCR

iFOREST engagement on international climate policy

iFOREST has been engaging on several international platforms on the inter-related issues of climate change, clean energy and energy efficiency, and just transition. A key objective of our international engagement is to push for an equitable and ambitious global climate mitigation outcome, with due recognition of the unique issues of the Global South countries.

Qualification & Work Experience

Minimum Master’s degree from a reputed institution with a degree in Climate Policy, Environment and Public Policy, Environmental Law and Governance, Political Science, International Relations, or any other relevant discipline.

Relevant work experience of 7-8 years is required.

Experience working on climate change policy issues in a reputed think tank or government organization is highly desirable. Strong track record of engagement in major global policy processes (such as United Nations, multilateral development banks or G7/G20 initiatives) will be considered as a plus.

  • Excellent engagement skills with a wide range of stakeholders, at high level international and national platforms.
  • Ability to critically review policy documents, supporting studies, and research.
  • Ability to write clearly and persuasively.
  • A demonstrated capacity for policy advisory and or public affairs work, based on a rigorous approach, and an innovative and creative communications ability.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, including managing a complex and varied workload.

The responsibilities as the senior Programme Associate entail the following:

  • Regularly follow and update the institution on matters related to global climate policy and governance.
  • External stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Liaison with stakeholders at the international levels and in various climate-related platforms.
  • Convene high-level at international platforms.
  • Reporting and analysis on climate policy:
  • Support preparation of/develop high-quality policy briefs, policy submissions, white papers, etc.
  • Develop communication materials and engage in strategic communication to build stakeholder engagement.
  • Any other related assignments as may be entrusted by the reporting authority.

Remuneration

Competitive salary as per candidate’s experience and proficiency. Final designation of successful candidate will be based on qualification and experience.
