Programme Lead (Research & Engagement), Maharashtra- Just Energy Transition
Role Summary
The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST), is looking for an experienced and dynamic professional to Lead the organization’s work and deep engagement on Just Energy Transition in Maharashtra.
This is a leadership position, and only professionals with minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience should apply. The successful applicant must have proven aptitude of research, excellent engagement and communication skills, and knowledge and coordination experience with various stakeholders, including the Government and related agencies, industry, among others.
Job Location: The position will be based in Pune/Mumbai

iFOREST is an independent non-profit research and innovation organization. Maharshtra is a core state of our engagement on areas of just energy transition, climate change and air pollution. The organization is engaging formally (through MoUs) with the state government to provide the necessary knowledge and technical supporting on these issues. On just energy transition, the work focuses on policies, planning, finances and designing implementations measures to scale up change.
Required Qualification & Work Experience
Primary qualification: Master’s degree (minimum) from a reputed institution in Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Applied Social Science, Regional Planning/Developmental Planning, Climate Change and Sustainability, and other related disciples.
Additional qualification: Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental), Economics, Environmental Sciences, or other relevant disciplines
A minimum of 8 years of work experience in think tanks, reputed consulting firms, multilateral agencies, or similar organizations, is a must.

The successful candidate should have the following competencies:
- Strong research aptitude with a proven track record.
- Excellent communication skills, and extrovert personality who can engage with various stakeholders, including government, industry, financial institutions, civil society organizations, etc.
- Maturity to take up a leadership role to build the programme’s profile in the state and strengthen the organization’s engagement on various platforms.
- Ability to undertake and guide impactful research and technical analysis.
- Knowledge of just energy transition, industrial decarbonization, fossil fuel industries, and related issues, is a plus.
The responsibilities as the Programme Lead entail the following:
- Lead and manage various research projects of the just transition initiative in the state.
- Lead and undertake analytical research ad technical analysis. Prepare high-quality reports, analytical research papers, technical briefs, etc.
- Liasson/coordinate with government officials and agencies, to support policies/programmes/investments for just energy transition.
- Engage with industry, financial institutions, technical partners, to identify practical solutions for scaling up action on just energy transition and industrial decarbonization.
- Do high-level meetings and presentations to achieve outcomes.
- Convene stakeholder meetings to build policy and public engagement.
- Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and performance metrics to track the effectiveness and impact of the program.
- Build the institutional profile, and contribute to the design and development of programmes, including support in the writing of new proposals.
- Any other related assignments as may be entrusted by the reporting authority.

Remuneration
