ESG
Overview
With an installed power capacity having reached 476 GW as of June 2025, India’s renewable energy growth in recent years has been commendable, however, accelerating this trend to meet our net zero ambitions by 2070 is the challenge in front of us.
At iFOREST, we believe in creating a balanced renewable energy landscape across the country. Expanding Renewable Energy infrastructure beyond the Southern and Western states will not
only improve grid efficiency and resilience but also unlock vast tracts of untapped potential from other regions.
We perform primary research into the RE potential assessment and development in states like Odisha, Assam, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand to make a case for clean energy investments in these regions. We also work to push demand for Renewable Energy in CNI components. iFOREST is dedicated to providing technical and policy support for these projects through our strong partnerships with industry and state governments.
Our objective is to setup the eastern region platform on green energy and green jobs, advance policies and investments for balanced renewable energy to improve energy access and livelihoods, and support industries in meeting their Renewable Purchase Obligations through targeted policy and investment support.

Report Launch & Panel Discussion I BRSR Disclosure: ESG Performance of the Cement Sector 2024–25
The event marks the release of iFOREST’s report, BRSR Disclosure: ESG Performance of the Cement Sector 2024–25. The report benchmarks 18 cement companies, which together account for nearly 87% of India’s cementitious material production, against 107 indicators under SEBI’s Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) framework. The sector’s CO₂ emissions rose 4% in FY25 to 224 million tonnes, 6–7% of India’s total, as output grew. The report assesses how the industry is performing on environmental, social and governance measures, and how fully it reports them. The event will bring together industry leaders, government agencies, regulators, investors, rating agencies and think tanks to discuss the report’s findings and recommendations. Panels will cover low-carbon pathways for the cement sector and how to close gaps in BRSR disclosure, with the aim of steering the industry towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient and globally competitive future.
