Climate Conclave - Mahakumbh

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the world’s largest spiritual gathering, represents a profound confluence of faith, culture, and humanity. With its deep connection to sacred rivers and spiritual traditions, the event offers an extraordinary platform to influence societal consciousness.
Religion and faith hold more power to influence society than any government or corporation. Climate action cannot succeed unless it resonates culturally and emotionally with the masses. Unlike scientists or policymakers, faith leaders know how to reach people. When religious leaders step up to environment challenges, everybody listens.
Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to galvanise climate action, the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in partnership with iFOREST, is organising a Climate Conclave titled ‘Faith of Kumbh and Climate Change’ at the Maha Kumbh Mela on 16th February 2025.
The climate conclave comes at a time when climate change and environmental degradation are intensifying globally. The conclave seeks to bridge the sacred and the sustainable, recognizing that faith communities—with their moral authority and grassroots reach—are indispensable allies in the fight against the climate crisis.
