Training and Workshop on Industrial Boilers

iFOREST convened a training workshop in Ghaziabad on “Boiler Technologies, Efficient Operations and Optimised Air Pollution Control,” bringing together government officials, industry experts and technology providers to examine how cleaner, more efficient industrial steam can be achieved across the value chain, from fuel selection and boiler operation to distribution, heat recovery and emissions control. The workshop featured findings from iFOREST’s study of the NCR’s fleet of process boilers, which found that boilers are often operated well below their installed capacity, increasing excess air and heat losses, that a 20% efficiency gain could correspond to roughly 70% lower particulate-matter emissions, and that operator training and fuel-feed automation could improve biomass-boiler energy efficiency by 10 to 15%. Sessions through the day covered combustion optimisation, biomass retrofits, Steam-as-a-Service models for MSMEs, distribution and waste-heat recovery, and emissions monitoring and compliance, identifying practical routes to lower-cost steam, reduced emissions and more resilient MSME operations.
