Building Odisha’s Green Workforce: Jobs, Skills and Entrepreneurship Opportunities for the Green Economy
Odisha’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy is creating significant opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurship across energy, industry, environment and emerging green sectors.
Our upcoming report highlights the scale of employment opportunities emerging from the energy transition, environmental action and climate response and the need to equip Odisha’s workforce with the skills and competencies to seize these opportunities. The near-term opportunity is already visible: The state’s announced RE targets could support approximately 29,400 jobs by 2030 and will nearly double by 2035 (to over 57,000). Besides, the state’s green investment pipeline (approved until 2025), could generate additionally over 48,400 jobs across emerging green industries.
The launch will bring together government, industry, academia, skilling institutions, development partners and civil society to discuss emerging green employment opportunities, changing skill and competency requirements, and pathways for building Odisha’s green workforce.
